Twentieth Century Hotels dates back to 1935 and originally owned The King’s Head (Harrow), a favourite meeting place of Winston Churchill. The company consolidated its position in 1948 with the purchase of The Richmond Hill Hotel. Over the next three decades the company and its subsidiaries acquired a total of 11 hotels and leisure complexes which included The Ship Hotel (Shepperton), The High Pine Club (Weybridge), The Hut Hotel (Wisley), The King’s Arms (Hampton Court), The Grosvenor Hotel (Bristol), The Abinger (Brighton), The Carlton Hotel (Folkstone), The Lancaster Gate Hotel (London) and The Manor Hotel (Farncombe).
